Project 4 Ideas: The Trace
The first ideas that I had for this project were, like most my photos, things that I found as they were. Things that I would happen upon and capture, but not influence. Some of those ideas were weathering, abandon things, used things, or garbage. I also wanted to use some of the forensic photography techniques that we discussed in class. Straight on shooting and playing with the flash is something that I think can help enhance some of these photos.
I took my camera with me to Devil’s Lake near Baraboo Wisconsin. I thought that here, in an environment that had less impact from humans, I might be able to find more obvious and clashing traces. I didn’t want to necessarily just shoot garbage. I also wanted to capture more subtle impacts that humans can have, like weathered stones or different affects on natural things that people don’t always observe.
